MICHELLE KASS

Michelle founded Michelle Kass Associates in 1990 – a Soho literary agency representing a wonderfully eclectic bunch of voice-led dramatists, authors and directors, many of them prize-winning, who work across all aspects of Story. Clients include twice Grammy-nominated filmmaker Grant Gee (Joy Division, Patience (After Sebald)); Jeff Noon (Vurt, Creeping Zero); multi- award-winning writer Patrick Ness (The Knife of Never Letting Go; A Monster Calls).  The agency deals with production companies, publishers and financiers around the world.

From 2003-2008 Michelle was co-Chair of the PMA, the trade association of the vast majority of UK literary and theatrical agencies. Alongwith co-Chair Alan Brodie, she set up an ongoing programme of seminars offered free or at minimal cost to many producers and lawyers as well as to the PMA’s members. The seminars are now funded by Skillset. The first seminar on Copyright and New Technology, was attended by 300 industry members. Its choice reflects a particular and long-standing interest in the opportunities and challenges of digital media.

She was for several years a member of the British Council Film and Television Advisory Board for Chair Duncan Kenworthy.

Michelle has a degree in Law and Modern Languages from Cambridge University, speaks fluent French and Italian and basic German.
