WHAT IS THE PIXEL LAB?

The Pixel Lab is a European training hub set up to equip producers, storytellers and media professionals with the skills to create, produce and finance cross-media properties – stories that can span a combination of film, TV, online, mobile, interactive and gaming.  We believe these skills are essential to build sustainable businesses and be competitive in a multi-platform international marketplace. Teaching is led by some of the sharpest creative and business innovators in the world.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

WORKSHOP 1 Residential Week: 26 June-2 July 2011, Potsdam
A residential 6-day-long workshop for 32 participants, half of whom are producers attending the lab with a project, took place at the 4* Resort Schwielowsee. Teaching was led by international cross-media pioneers – a mixture of group work, indepth talks, case study presentations and one-to-one meetings.

DISTANCE LEARNING July – September 2011 (Producers with projects only)
Producers attending with a project received distance learning from two cross-media experts to devise a selling document to take their project to the next stage.

WORKSHOP 2, 11-13 October 2011, London (Producers with projects only)
Day 1: Pitch presentation training
Day 2: Producers attend The Pixel Pitch Competition, the second day of Power to the Pixel’s annual Cross-Media Forum, 11-14 October
Day 3: The Pixel Lab Presentations & Prize. Producers make five-minute presentations to The Pixel Lab jury and invited international industry guests.

One producer will be awarded The Pixel Lab Cash Prize, judged on the quality of the document devised during the distance learning process, and the quality of their final-day pitch.
