About

The Pixel Lab is a development workshop designed to strengthen the skills needed to create, produce and distribute stories across multiple platforms to stay relevant to changing audiences and the connected world. Produced for six years in Wales, Germany, Scotland, Belgium and the UK, The Pixel Lab has helped develop over 190 producers, commissioners, financiers, distributors, writers, directors, games & interactive designers and artists.

Spread across four months, The Pixel Lab is composed of a residential workshop, distance mentoring, a pitching session and a 1-2-1 business meeting. Subjects covered included:

  • Developing stories across multiple platforms
  • Marketing & distribution strategies dedicated to exploring new platforms, increasing revenue & strengthening business-to-consumer relationships
  • Utilising virtual and augmented reality formats, interactivity and cross platform approaches to build their IP and media brand
  • Enhancing audience engagement
  • User-centric design
  • Innovative online tools and services
  • Analysis and deconstruction of international interactive project case studies
  • Legal and digital rights issues surrounding development, production and financing
  • Project packaging, planning and presentation
